A sociology professor in the Philadelphia, PA area for over 25 years, I began working with metal about 10 years ago. Since that time, I have studied at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with sculptors Barry Parker, Alex Gartelmann and Joe Mooney. I have exhibited pieces at exhibitions within the eastern Pennsylvania region. I believe that, ideally, art should engage some magic. In my work, I mindfully confront basic elements of steel, aluminum and stone and find within them, their antithesis—warmth and weightless, non-static figurative motion and “dance”.
