Riding the "Tail of the Dragon"
Besides metal sculpture, my passion is riding bikes. Shots of me with my Moto Guzzi, riding the Tail of the Dragon, and on the Blue Ridge Parkway--one of my favorite rides.
A retired sociology professor in the Philadelphia, PA area, I began working with metal in 2006, while taking continuing education classes at University of the Arts in Philadelphia with sculptors Barry Parker, Alex Gartelmann and Joe Mooney. I have exhibited pieces at juried exhibitions and have several permanent public art installations in the Philadelphia area.. I believe that, ideally, art should engage some magic. In my work, I mindfully confront basic elements of steel, aluminum and stone and find within them, their antithesis—warmth and weightless, non-static figurative motion and “dance”.
